About

Who Knew?

Beneath the surface lies AN AMAZING YOU just waiting to come out and play, to be discovered, embraced, and celebrated!

Getting started

As we work together, I’ll listen attentively to your concerns and hopes.

When needed, I’ll shape our initial dialogue with clear and respectful questioning, to understand where you’ve been and what makes you tick.

A chill pill

At earlier stages of therapy, you may benefit from structured relaxation exercises that emphasize breathing, awareness and visualization skills. You can master them quickly and do them at home!

You’ll feel great and experience prompt relief from stress and general nervousness.

Best of all, no side effects!!

Express yourself!

As we go along, we may use expressive writing to achieve greater insight and emotional calming.

These skills and routines will help you feel less sad and more in control between our sessions.

Connecting the dots…

Over time, we’ll shed greater light on how your past may be affecting your present.

I’ll engage in thematic listening – I’ll search for experiences that relate to each other in ways you may not have previously understood.

The light bulb comes on.

A-HA!

These moments will lead to new perspectives that will equip you to make POWERFUL CHANGES within yourself and your life.

I’ll be with you every step of the way

Together, we’ll create a safe and trusting space so you’re free to be who you truly are.

I’m here to support and encourage you, so I won’t dominate the discussion. But I will be active in my role, facilitating real progress and tangible benefits for you.

Your time has come!

You seem fine on the outside – perfectly fine.

But inside – emptiness. Darkness.

You’ve been here before.

You’re ready to change. You want to change.

It hasn’t happened.

But now, it’s time.

Together, we’ll usher in a bright, new era of happiness and strength. We’ll empower you with more positive, more productive habits and routines.

Conquer stress. Banish anxiety. Welcome peaceful sleep, new energy, sharper alertness.

Take charge – of your emotions and your life.

About Me

It’s actually all about “We”!

My life’s mission is to leave things better than I find them. As a therapist, I find introducing and strengthening healthy functioning for and with clients incredibly gratifying.

When we work together, we’ll form a highly rewarding partnership – a strong therapeutic alliance.

Those moments when we “click” and the popcorn starts popping are amazing!

My journey

As a young child, I was the “good boy,” eager to please and to fit in. Mom, Dad, and others turned to me for help.

In some ways, I became the parent, rather than the child!

Fortunately, I became an independent adolescent, retaining an innate desire and knack for helping others.

Too Much of a Good Thing?

While it’s usually a positive attribute, I became so independent that I felt emotionally out of touch as a young adult.

Attending to my wants and needs, allowing myself to be vulnerable, and to ask for what I want in relationships has been a lifelong process, but the rewards are both tremendous and exhilarating!

After earning master’s degrees in social work and business administration, I worked in psychiatry, oncology and hospice settings.

I’ve taken a front row seat with clients and their families while navigating the ins and outs of physical and mental illness, as well as aging and end-of-life issues.

I’ve also held direct service and leadership roles in various healthcare and social service organizations.

And as a licensed clinical social worker, I have worked with therapy clients in private practice for more than ten years.

Practicing what I preach

The pot of gold at the end of the therapy rainbow?

Self-care, compassion, kindness and friendship.

We can best care for others by taking care of ourselves.

For me, that means quality time with people I care about and with my dogs, Frankie and Roscoe.

Physical activity; a day at the beach; a good movie, play or concert; nature; delicious food.

And last, but not least, checking things off my bucket list! Most recently, that involved moving to New York City for six years and then returning home to sunny Fort Lauderdale.

So, ready to discover what’s in your pot of gold?
